Why Axon?

With more and more product teams, there exists a lack of standardization in tooling and development practices. Every new project has to be reinvented to follow IM8 policies, making productionization difficult. Sensitive projects are also not suitable for vendor development, making in-house coding a priority.

Promote in-house development

We wish to standardize tech stacks, promoting upskilling and deep technical knowledge. This allows us to train and develop skilled in-house engineers, whether to develop sensitive products at a high quality or to evaluate vendor solutioning and implementations. This also enables knowledge sharing between departments, allowing us to grow and bounce ideas and solutions off one another.

Work with vendors

Due to manpower constraints and industry advancements, vendors are an indispensible part of creating state of the art products. With a common platform, we can better enforce security and governance on most if not all aspects of development and productionization, resulting in better compliance, auditability and knowledge sharing.

Centralized compute

With an increasing need for AI to augment lacking manpower, we require centralized compute such as GPUs and data sharing within and across HTDs to support AI, ML and BA requirements as it is not feasible to procure massive amounts of compute for every new project. Centralizing key compute infrastructure helps to save costs, reduce procurement and maintainance efforts on project and product teams, and allows for scale.

Best practices

The central developer platform helps to unite and enforce best practices, providing golden paths to achieving common use cases. Ideally, both in-house development and vendors collaborate in the same platform, allowing for a unified tech stack and skill development.

As the user experience improves, the platform can allow even interns to go from development to production easily, reducing time to market and allowing for quick onboarding. Changes to manpower deployments between projects and products are also easier, as the underlying concepts and skills do not change.
